Thanksgiving

It was 7am and the house was already smelling like Thanksgiving. Carmels, fudge, lemon bars, magic bars, and pumpkin cake were being made, stuffing was being prepared, and the turkey was soaking. Each family was assigned to bring something and John and Sheri were assigned to mini deserts and one Turkey. We got to the ranch at about 1pm and let the kids play before it was time to eat. It was a cold sunny day and the kids were all playing outside. Everything was ready at about 3pm and we ate until we couldn’t eat anymore.

Later that night before everyone went to bed Uncle Ken and Gpoo put together a family home evening. (this is very typical when all the family gets together) and they LOVE putting people on the spot, especially Gpoo. We sang Christmas songs and had somewhat of a unexpected talent show. I was ready to feed the baby if my name were to be called, luckily it didn’t! Gpoo would hand select who he wanted to sing a duet or trio in front of everyone, and you couldn’t just sing it, you had to REALLY sing it with PASSION, in his words. He would stop you mid-way through your song and tell you to start over with passion. Hillarious!

After much fun, the kids went to bed and the night had just begun for some of us girls. We went over to Aunt Kris’s house to play a few games of Ticket to Ride until go time. Lauren, myself, Hillary, and Katie dressed all in black in preparation for Black Friday. We left the house at about 11pm and went over to Walmart. The parking lot was not full at all and when we walked in they had pallets/boxes of all the sale items in the middle of all the isles. We got our carts and started filling them up. You could put the items in your basket but couldn’t check out until midnight and we were fine with that because we still had Kohls and Target we were hitting up! So, I ended up getting a few movies, games, and Barbies all for about $30, well worth the night up and fun!

So as you can see by the pictures we had our cameras with us and Canon is a little hick town so when you see 4 hot blondes with camera’s you get asked if your with the Paparazzi, if its going to be on Facebook (like that was the most awesome thing EVER), and if we were with the newspaper. We were dying laughing! This was my first black Friday and not my last, I had so much fun!!!

After we checked out (we were 2nd in line) we drove to Pueblo (35 min away) to go to Kohls and Target. Kohl’s opened at 3am and Target at 4am. To kill some time before waiting at Kohls we decided to go to Mcdonalds to get a drink. We waited in the drive thru line for about 25 min! Apparently their systems were down so the 2 guys that were running the place were hand calculating your bill and was only accepting cash. That’s ok though, we had enough time to watch Bon Qui Qui from Mad TV which really made our night light up! We were reciting lines from that clip all night long! Hillarious… Sacurity, Sacurity!

After McDonalds we drove over to Kohls it was 1am and people were already in line!! It was 16 degrees outside and we were all thinking, there is no way we are waiting in line for 2 hours! Well, we did. We danced, laughed, and made new friends! We had everyone in the line teaming up with us to make sure Hillary would get her Zippity that she really wanted for Isabelle. As we all love reciting lines from Movies, we had just watched ELF which is one of our favorite Christmas movies and I was acting the fool saying in my deep voice” Code Word: Santa’s got a brand new bag!” So, we soon made that movie line our code word for when someone would find a Zippity for Hillary. (guess you had to be there but it was seriously hysterical)

We were all counting down the minutes (like the new year) and about 6 minutes before the doors were about to open, there were a swarm of people that came that were going to crowd and get inside. We were so ticked! In fact, a lady that was standing outside of the rope told me she had been waiting in her car since 1:30am. So I said that’s great, we’ve been waiting in line since 1am OUTSIDE, so get back lady! Yes, I can now see why people get violent at these things cause I wanted to start a fight myself!

So, as soon as the doors open we RAN into the store and got what we wanted and waited inline to check out. We got out of Kohls at about 3:45am and headed over to Target. This line for Target was about a quarter of a mile long wrapped around the building. After waiting in line in the cold for 2 hours, waiting any longer outside didn’t seem enticing. Not to mention everything would be gone by the time we would get in. Normally the lines aren’t this crazy but this is the only target in Pueblo/Canon area so we knew it was going to be busier, just not that busy! So, we decided to call it a night of fun and head back. We got into town at about 5ish and finally went to bed. With a horrible sore throat, might I add.

Some crazies we met that were in line infront of us. One stunk like BO, the other like Preferred Stock Cologne, and the one in the wheel chair like vomit. And to top it off, they would NOT stop talking to us. I don't blame them though.
