First but not the last

Last Saturday we were invited to go out on the boat with our cousins the Morphews.

First time out on a boat here in Texas and we LOVED it! The kids didn't quite understand the whole boating thing but were intrigued that they were going to go on a big boat and be pulled by a tube. They compared it to Great Wolf Lodge and going down the slides on the tubes. I said it was kindof like that.

They could not sleep the night before because they were so excited!

I arranged for my mother to watch Charlotte so we could just enjoy the day with Pierce and Cecily and we certainly did that.

We got up early and headed out to Lake Texoma.

It was SO beautiful out there, probably one of the most beautiful lakes I've seen thus far and the kids had the times of their lives!

Cecily was FEARLESS which I have slowly come to realize frightens me. She was laughing and smiling on the tube the entire time and did NOT want to get off. Even after they got flipped. Pierce was the same way.

The kids tubed, played, swam, caught fish, and chased after turtles till 6pm! They were exhausted when we got home. Today made us realize as well that we REALLY want a boat!

We had SO much fun!!!

I cannot believe we are at the end of the year already and my little boy is going into 1st grade now!

Today was a sad day (for me)
and for Ms. Ingle.

The Kindergarteners had their little graduation and end of the year party. There is not much to say but that it was a sad day but yet happy day for Pierce graduating.

I was so pleased to see that he is at a reading level J which is very good. I think they want them to be at a level E or something like that before first grade starts.

So I was proud to see that he is way advanced in his reading and writing!
I cried today.
and.
cried.
watching his.
teacher cry.

I hate it when i do stuff like that.
No one ever told me you would be so emotional as a mother.

Yes, he recieved the Artist Award. I was expecting he would get that one. What a fun award for him, he loved it!

A long time waiting for a day like this.

I’ve always day dreamed about having a daughter in dance and tonight was just that dream come true. This past year she has been taking dance, a ballet/tap combo class and she has had a great time in it. She’s the youngest one in her class but she fits in just well.

Tonight was the big night...

the recital!

Butterflies filled my stomach driving over to the school. Her costume was on, hair curled and pulled half way up, and her cheeks and lips were as rosy as I could make them!

She looked like a doll.

Like a little bride.

Literally.

As we waited patiently in our chairs for the first 10 performances to go, the little brides soon made it across the stage. Before the music even started, all you could hear were member of the audience ooh-ing and ahh-ing on how adorable they looked.

And when the music started, it was even more heart wrenching-ly darling. I wanted them to perform over and over again. I didn’t get enough of my little girl.

It was so cute because during a few parts of the routine, the girls were supposed to pliƩ in and out of first and second position. Well, for Cecily and many of the other girls, it was just a hopping step. She just kept hopping in place, it was hilarious and too cute for me to even explain any further.

The neatest thing of all was when I asked her if she was nervous being up on stage her response was, "Nooo!"

(Like I had asked her the stupidest question in the world)

Well ok then!

Glad to know my little girl isn't afraid of much!

Anyway,

That was seriously the highlight of my year I think.Photobucket

Galveston

A beach trip has been in the back of our mind for a while now. We’ve been craving the beach, sand, and sunshine and we finally made it work this weekend! The Underly and Warnock family made it happen! It was memorial weekend (which we usually don’t go to places like this on busy weekends but it was the only weekend we had open) After Cecily’s dance recital (Really, who plans the recital on memorial weekend)

Do NOT get us started about that again…

But after the recital, we had everything packed and headed on the road to Galveston! We got in at about 10pm and stayed up and talked and laughed till about midnight.

Oooooooh, so late huh!

Once we settled down for bed, Jake pulled the covers down to get in bed and found something

very,

very,

disgusting.

Something caught his eye that was in the sheets.

Please keep in mind that we have had gross hotel expereinces in the past.

You are welcome to read my old post of "Don't let the bed bugs bite."

Yes, it is real if you are wondering.

So anyway,

he picked it up for a closer look and it appeared to be a mans huge toe nail, along with several black hairs in the sheets.

Does that totally gross you out?

We figured that maybe the sheets were not changed and the bed was just re-made. Makes me sick thinking about it, again. What should we expect though… The only place that wasn’t 300 a night was a Microtel, 2o min away from the beach.

YOu may be thinking to yourself, Well duh...

Its a Microtel!

But... They still should hold a level of cleanliness.

At least change the sheets people! I mean REALLY?

On Sunday, we got up early, had breakfast and heading for the beach. We spent all day there… Brought food in a big cooler and the kids played and played till they couldn’t take it anymore.

Jake was being a tease and throwing seaweed and mud at the kids, so it soon became a seaweed/mud fight. View pictures below, I have a few action shots!

The kids found jellyfish that had been washed up from the ocean that were in the sand. (Scary) Sophie got stung by one but she was ok. Have never seen one of those close up, it's wild.

No one had to urinate on her thumb or anything. (You do know that's a myth right?)

The kids made sand castles and just about everyone got severely burned. Whining and Peeling days after the beach!

We had dinner at our favorite restaurant, Lupe’s Tortilla and the next day, went to Hillary’s pool.

We had a blast this weekend!!! (Wish you could have been there huh?)

Charlotte LOVED the beach. She played in the water, ate sand, picked up cigarette butts, got a little sun tan, and just enjoyed the day altogether!

These two below were getting a little close for words! Cecily was rubbing ice cubes all over his chest... And Sam was obviously liking it! I think we need to have a talk with her. So CUTE!

They will get married,

I know it!

Ok so long story short, I saw this hottie 2 years ago right here at the beach and he walked by me and said "Hey beautiful mother", so the Howland's and us always laugh about that. Well, lucky me, I saw the dreamboat again. Same black Speedo, same leather-y skin, and same bleached long hair. It was a good day!

"King of the Chest" -
