My new obsession

I've always thought about having a "Chabby Shick" home but never really thought twice about it since I got sucked into the whole "Southwestern" style after I met Jake.

I love southwestern, but it's not me.

So, after a website my cousin Katie showed me and then telling me how easy it is to do it, I made the decision.

I'm switching.

All of it.

Piece by piece.

But i'm finally doing it.

I'm planning on sticking to some basic colors like Cream, light teal, mustard color, and so on. All destressed.

So, I made my first trip to Mckinney Trade Days and found some awesome things! Here they are...

I am so excited to get started!

This beauty below I got for $12 (and its heavy duty, good quality) and i'm going to paint it cream and destress it.

Birthday Surprise

So since I have known Jake,

lets just say he's not very creative when it comes to celebrating my

Birthday,

Mothers Day,

etc.

But this birthday, I made a point in dropping the hint pretty obvious that this one better be better than the others because mainly, I'm turning 30.
I have been dreading this birthday for a really long time. It just seems as if i've been in my twenties for so long that the "3" "0" would never come. Well, reality hit and to tell you the truth, it's a little depressing when I think about it. But I can say I don't feel any different.

yet.

So, my birthday went a little something like this.

6:30am, Jake sneaks out of bed, leaves through our back door and goes to get donuts and flowers. He walks in the bedroom with a glaze donut (my fav) and two huge numbers "30" lite up singing "happy birthday".

The rest of my day consisited of... Taking care of the kids, cooking, cleaning, and finally showering at 4pm. Later that night, Jake had the Underly's surprise me and come over to the house with a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cake. (A birthday tradition in our family)

So, the day of, (as always).... Jake asked me what I wanted for my birthday...
I pointed to the piece of paper on the fridge and said "This."

His face expression changed and he said...

"Oh, ha ha... Can't I just buy you a present instead?"

"Nope" (With a big Smile)

I never thought in a million years I would choose household work over gifts, guess that'e one thing that changes when you hit the 30's!

Squeezing in some fun

As you may already know,

we LOVE driving down to Houston to see our cousins Nick & Hillary.

It's been about a year now since we've done that because they haven't lived there this past year as Nick was doing rotations with medical school all over the state.

But now... We are back on track!

We went down there as birthday request of mine and spent the entire weekend, laying out by the pool and just relaxing all weekend. I love weekends like that and little quick trips are so refreshing.

The kids had a blast playing with their cousin Isabelle and Charlotte was loving all the new toys she had discovered.

Flowerpot Cupcakes

As I said before, the kids were just loving their new Birthday presents they got last week from their party.

They have been begging me for days now to make these flowerpot cupcakes Cecily got as a gift.

We did them tonight and they had a blast and I got some cute pictures!

Even Charlotte loved the uncooked brownie batter. (should have snapped a photo of that, but didn't)

Lipglosses in both hands, mixing bowl on her head, silly bandz up the wazoo... You know just by looking at her, she's a little sass!

The Plug n Play

A few years ago my husband was influenced by his cousin in law, Nick, to try and beat his high score on Pacman. For a while there, it would consume his days and nights and started to get really annoying. Anytime he would reach a higher level, he would take a picture of the screen and send it to Nick with the proof of beating him. This went back and forth for a while.

Not sure who eneded up as the champion, I think it was my husband since Nick had better things to do (like going to medical school) than play all day.

I loved this game growing up, didn't you?

Anyway,

we found the good ol plug in play (which kindof serves and subsides our desires for a Wii) and got it out for the kids.

So,

Pierce has grown to love this game.

Cecily tries but doesn't quite get how to move pacman fast enough before she is eaten by the colored monsters.

And hey...

I'm starting to kindof like the whole video game thing, where before i've been total anti.

I was able to cook dinner without interuptions.

Success!

Last minute fun

I was getting dinner ready when Jake called at 5:30pm

and asked if we wanted to take the kids to the

Circus?

Um, Yes!

I stopped dinner, threw it in the fridge,

Cecily said she was going to change her shoes? -Ok whatev,

loaded the kids up,

and met him half way to the Circus.

The kids were super excited to go and I lOVE last minute things like this.

Charlotte was surprisingly good during it all and the kids didn't take their eyes off the show.

Don't you just love her boots? She wears them with everything and apparently her mind was on wearing them tonight because she made a point to tell me she was going to change her shoes? Ha!

Late Birthdays

So since we moved pretty much during the kids birthdays,

we couldn't really do a birthday for them.

So, this was their late birthday

and they had so much fun!

I had it at the splash park and a few of their friends showed up, they've been looking forward to this for the past week.

The second we got home,

I didn't hear a word from them the rest of the night,

they were both busy playing with their new toys.

On the way home, Charlotte was so tired from the Splash Park, she was just so cute and relaxed that I took a picture of her. Then, I turned back around to look at her again and she was out.

I think the best 4 days of the year

Oh my heck, talk about one of the funnest times we've had in a LONG time.

We love going to Colorado, its as if time stops there.

So we got invited by our friends the Underly's to go to their families cabin up in La Veta and it was unreal, amazing. I can't even go into all the details, first it would take forever and 2, it wouldn't do it justice.

We are totally getting one. A cabin.

We stayed there for 4 days but wished it was longer. And hope we get re-invited again. hope.

Our days consisted of the following:

Big breakfasts
Morning jogs
fourwheeling
Witches Stories
Gator-ing
Discovering new 4-wheeling trails ALL DAY LONG
Bear searching
BBQ dinners
Abandoned trailers
Getting in trouble

Double toliets

Bugs

Early mornings
"Chick-munk" trapping
Late night socializing
Breaking down
Hot tubing
Scary story telling
Pouting, whinning, and crying
Chiggers
More story telling and socializing
Sneaking & lying
Pouting, whinning, and crying - Oh wait, did I already say that?
Rat houses
Squeaking
Hot chocolate
Covered in dust & dirt
Bribing

Shhhhhhhhh

Daring
Crackers & Peanuts
Charlotte discovered wine drinking and dog food
Shorts with boots
Fourwheeling off a cliff
And...its getting too late for me to think of any others right now.

It was seriously the BEST time ever. I did NOT want to leave. Why can't life just be a big vacation everyday. Work is so overated, why not just live in the mountains?

WARNING: There are ALOT of pictures.

"Chipmunk hangout" The boys would set these traps under this bucket with crackers and peanuts and wait till a chipmunk went under it and they would pull the string and catch it. The kids were ALL over it and spending a good portion of the day, perfecting the trap.
