Flash Back Friday: Money Money Money Monneyyy... MONNNEEEEYYYY

You're singing that song in your head aren't you? I am. I'm love it!

So let me just break it down for you a little bit here.

· ACN endorsed by “The Donald”
· Featured on Celebrity Apprentice and again in March 2011
· Famous for their own branded product, The Video Phone/Digital Phone Service
· Home-based business

· Overall, the business concept is…. Genius.

So, some of you may be thinking to yourself, hmmm, sounds interesting. That’s what I thought too just 4 short months ago! I can remember vividly when this same business was introduced to us 7 years ago. At that time, the company was simply a long distance provider…not very enticing to us at the time, not to mention it was one of those types of businesses. And, the mortgage industry was booming.

So, we went about our way and that was that, until about 4 months ago.
As many of you may know, the reason why we moved to Texas is because Jake was born and raised here and he’s always wanted to come back. I was NOT thrilled about leaving. As our last year in Utah came to a close, preparation for moving became a reality. Instead of feeling nervous, I actually started to get excited, excited for a new place, the heat, the beach close by, family, and our new business.

We purchased an Allstate Insurance Agency and love it. Well, most of it anyway except for the normal reasons to hate small business ownership like overhead, employee drama, etc. So, we were just minding our own business until one day out of the blue our cousin’s, husband’s, sister’s, husband (for real) showed up at our office one afternoon. Jeff and his buddy Craig (who is a Regional Vice President with the company) came in to show us the business opportunity. Now, some of you may know me well enough to know that I tend to speak FIRMLY with my eyes and my husband got one of those “Nope, we’re not interested” kind of look from me, and his response was, “ya I know, don’t worry” kind of look.

With some initial reluctance we listened to the opportunity and looking back now, I am really glad we had an open mind. I certainly don’t consider ourselves naïve, and after weighing the information, it just made too much sense to start this new venture. It has truly been so much fun! Most recently in September, we had the opportunity to travel to North Carolina. Can I say Beautiful btw! The trip was amazing and you will see some fun pictures below from our weekend trip to Charlotte. So much fun, training, and motivation! Bottom line, we were looking for some change in our lives, so we needed to start by... you guessed it, changing! Seems logical, right? Well, there's ALOT more to this but I can only say so much through a social network site. You know, rules.

Anyway, want in on this business? Let me know, I can get you some more information on it. Don't tell me you still want to be doing what your doing years from now, do you? Is it going to get better for you? Probably not.

It's ok, don’t be shy.

Snow Canyon Half Marathon

Wow, where do I begin? Can I just say, amazing. I have been training now for a several months for this half Marathon and I couldn’t believe it was go time! Since I was flying out of state for this, there was no turning back or chickening out. I flew into Utah with Charlotte on Thursday and stayed the night at my sister-n-laws.

Friday morning I said good bye to my sweet baby (which is the first time I have been away from her for more than 3 hours) I’m not going to lie, it was really, really hard. My mother-in-law came to Salt Lake for the weekend to watch Charlotte for me, I couldn’t have asked for a better baby sitter! (I didn’t want to complicate things for Jake any more than I had to with 2 toddlers, although it was a great thing for him to spend one on one time with them)

On Friday morning Natalie and I were on our way to St. George! We finally got into town at about 5pm and went to pick our race packet up at the Runners Store. We then loaded up on some delicious carbs, I visited my best friend and her adorable kids for a few minutes, and then relaxed and unpacked at Natalie’s In -Laws home. We had the whole basement to our selves and had a great time putting on our own little pajama photoshoot, talked, and got our things ready for the race the next morning. We didn’t get to bed until after 1am. So much for a good nights sleep!

Saturday morning we got up at about 6:30am, ate Oatmeal & a Banana, got dressed, and headed to Snow Canyon High where the buses where waiting for us. At 7:45 the buses headed up to the top of the canyon where the race would begin. Hundreds of people were there, of all kind. Big, Small, Athletic, Non-athletic, old, very young, barefoot, you name it, they were all there! I remember thinking to myself, if they can do it, I certainly can do it!

The race began at 8:30am. My adrenaline was pumping, my ipod was blasting, and my feet were frozen. Yes, frozen until mile 4! It was freezing and I have never had good circulation in my feet. Mile 4 was the first, aid station with Gatorade, Water, and GU. I took a quick drink and kept going down the canyon. For any of you that have ran a marathon know that it’s tough but when its downhill, it’s even tougher! You wouldn’t think so but your legs go into over drive to control your body as you run down. It slowed me down a little bit because I was terrified in going too fast and throwing my knee out. Yes, it was that steep! 4500 ft.

It was such an exciting time for me. Finally, all my work that I had put in would be paid off in just a few short hours. It was neat running with all those people, you didn’t want to be the only one walking for any reason, so it was great motivation to keep going at it. The race ended at the Highschool on the track. It was such an amazing accomplishment to cross that finish line. I cannot wait to do it all over again. Wow, I encourage everyone to try something like this, one of the most challenging things I have done and I feel so good about it! I finished the race in 2:15:54. Not bad for my first one!

After the race we hung out and watched other people finish, receive their awards, and relaxed for a bit. We went back to the inlaws house, got ready and went to Café Rio for lunch. Yum! After that, we packed up and decided to head over to Natalie’s brother -n-laws house. Rob & Thomas had a beautiful home that had a pool and hot tub. We shopped around a little before and when we arrived, they had a delicious pasta dinner waiting for us. We then ended the night with soaking our sore legs in the hot tub for a few hours, it felt great!

On Sunday we headed back to Salt Lake and I spent some time with my family. On Monday I left the snow for 75 degree weather. Home Sweet Home. I had so much fun!!! Natalie is such a great friend and I had the best time hanging out with her. Sad we don't live closer.

Anyway, I missed my kids soooo bad. Not sure I want to leave them again like that. Pierce was so excited to see my medal for the race, in fact he took it to school and showed his teacher and friends, so cute! More pictures to come from St. George Marathon photographers!

So you wonder… Will I do it again? Heck yes!

Next race: Dallas Half Marathon, March 2011 AND San Francisco Half Marathon, July 2011 (Across the Golden Gate Bridge) Join Me!

My cousin Katie made the most adorable good luck bag for me, here is the card below. I had a picture of the goodie bag but accidently deleted it while importing the photos. Ugh!

Mon Dieu, Oui !

T minus 3 days

This is it. One of the few things I want to accomplish in life. Something I have always wanted to do, run a marathon and from the looks of it so far, I don’t think it will be my last. I have been training for this big day for 4 months now, running between 16-24 miles a week. It’s hard, very hard. Mentally, but not so much physically. I would say like most people who aren’t big runners is that its kindof boring. It just seems like it takes forrrreveeerrrr, right? I used to think so.

The first week was like that for me and I can still remember that day. I could barely run a mile. I felt like everything on my body was jiggling, I was breathing hard, watching the clock wondering if in deed it was slow, didn’t bring a water bottle, Ipod battery was dead, and had eaten dinner about 20 minutes before starting my workout. All things that would lead me to believe I could NEVER, ever run a marathon. Not to say it was because I’m not athletic, just not a big runner.

Now, I absolutely love it. I love how it gives me some quiet time, as all mothers need that. I am proud of myself for doing something that is challenging. I want my kids to grow and learn that doing things in life that are a little out of our element is a good thing. It’s a growing experience. It has been so fun to see the reaction of my kids when I tell them I’m going bye bye for a race and that I will get a trophy when I’m done. So cute!

Anyway, back to the training part. About a month into it, one of my best friends said I should do one with her. So I said sure, why not! And here I am, flying to Utah tomorrow to run. All we need sometimes is a little push. I am SO Excited to do this.

I will be sure to make another post with all the details. Oh and p.s. I'm not going for speed, going for completion!

Wish me luck!

Post workout. Don’t hate me because this is a bad picture.

Souhaitez moi bonne chance!

Wish lists

I’m getting low on ideas for after school activities but this one today was from our cousin Katie, she is a very talented and crafty woman and always has good ideas. We were couponing late last night at cvs and in our papers were the Toys R Us Christmas Book. She had mentioned that she had brought the magazines home for her boys to look at and cut out what they wanted for Christmas for their wish list. Great idea huh? Well, that’s what we did. Not only did it keep them busy for about 45 minutes while I was getting dinner ready, but it also was fun to see what caught their eye.

On Cecily’s it consisted of Hello Kitty things, Barbies, Doll houses, Princesses, makeup, a Nerf gun, silly socks, and just about all the girlie things you can imagine. Hers was 2 pages. She is so my daughter!

Pierce’s wish list had Nerf Guns, an Outdoor playhouse, a computer, Mega blocks, train set, Cotton Candy maker, Dippin Dots maker, a Powerwheel Jeep, Star Wars people, and well you get the idea. Just about everything on page 1-4.

Little do they know that Santa is on a tight budget and won’t be getting everything on their lists. Oh and I was supervising very closely so that we wouldn't have another hair cutting episode.

My Serenity

Over the next few weeks I will be doing single posts on each person of the family, This should be interesting. So, I will just go ahead and start with the baby. Not because she is my favorite or anything, just because she’s the youngest of the family. Wink wink

I love everything about this tiny baby. Everything. Her smell. The way she kicks her legs. Her squeals. Her chubby feet, hands, arms, cheeks, and thighs. I love the way she smiles immediately when you smile at her. I love that she sucks her thumb and pulls her blankey close to her face. I I love how she gets excited to eat. She loves the tub. She loves to be held. She’s not found of solids just yet. She is threatened with spankens if she takes her bow off. She LOVES her mama. Likes her toenails painted .Loves how she turns her head when she hears my voice. Laughs at the kids. Loves to be facing out in the Bjorn. Chews on everything. Enjoys pinching. Likes to sleep in the middle of her parents. Sleeps on her side. Doesn’t like to be alone. Or maybe its me that doesn’t like her to be alone.? She makes every good or bad day turn great. Doesn’t have teeth yet. Loves to play with toys. Love her soft wispy hair. Likes to watch movies. Enjoys sight seeing and long walks on the beach.

If I had one wish, it would be for her never to grow up and to stay a baby. This is my problem, I love to have babies and feel devastated knowing this could be my last! Why do I deserve such a beautiful and sweet baby? She is perfect. In Every. Way. Possible.
