HalLoWeeN

I can’t believe we are at the end of October!! We had a fabulous Halloween weekend and the weather was just perfect! I love Halloween and I love to dress up. I decided to put something together last minute and was a Cat with Cecily. Not too hard, just wore all black, pinned some felt triangles I cut out onto a head band, and drew whiskers on my face. Jake all the while was looking through our garage and closet trying to find something to wear. Happens every year, he resists to dress up and then an hour before we leave he’s frantically searching for something to wear. Well, his only options were a weird looking cowboy. That included wearing a woman’s cowgirl shirt that I got at Good Will and ripped the shoulder pads out so he wouldn’t know it was a woman’s shirt OR dressing in all black and pretending to be a robber. I didn’t think the 2nd was a good idea, so after much wasted time, he decided to just go as himself. Next year will be better. Mark. My. Words!

Anyway, we were invited over to a friend’s house and got all the kids together to Trick Or Treat. They were freaking out, loved every second of it, and were eating each piece of candy just as fast as the received it. I am pretty strict when it comes to candy but I just said, what the heck one night won’t hurt them. Towards the end of the night though, we had to take it away. We couldn’t even keep up with the kids because they were literally sprinting from house to house, hence the missing pictures of them going door to door.

Texas people kindof go all out for Halloween with decorations and such. One house in our neighborhood made a full on Haunted House in the backyard that was actually scary (if you were a kid). We took the kids to it. There is just something about having your kids scared so they really cling on to you. I know, its kindof mean but its sooo cute. When we left the haunted house Cecily's words were, "That was freakin scary mama." Love it!

Well, wish me luck that I'm not cleaning vomit up at 3 am! Halloween night was a hit and they had the best time! Now, Thanksgiving and Christmas ahead! Mr. Snippies is on his way to the Warnock Residence... (stay tuned till the end of November to see what that's all about)

Boo Bash

Every year the kids’ Dentist puts on a "Boo Bash" every October. Last year I was going to take the kids but didn’t for some reason so when I saw the email for it this year, there was no way they were going to miss it. They’re were TONS of games (which the kids went back over and over again to get more prizes), pony rides, they had a petting zoo, had a mini train ride that went around the parking lot, a huge bounce house, face painting, fire truck, and tons more. There were a lot of people so we didn’t get to do everything. Next year, I will make sure we are there right at 10am!

What I also loved about it was that there was not a single piece of candy given (duh). No sugar highs, just lots of fun! Sounds like fun doesn’t it. Well, it was. I took the kids for a few hours to the Boo Bash and they Loved it! I loved it! We then had lunch at Chickfila and let them play for a while there. Then, had some friends over for the Texas Rangers game and had a great time!

Mon-Thur

With the last week of October coming to a close, I have been busy trying to get a bunch of Halloween stuff out of the way. We had a great week and it consisted of playing Tea Party, making Ghost Rice Krispie Treats (didn’t really turn out), Ward Halloween Party (I am on the Activities Committee which is freaking awesome, did a great job on the party), Decided to change my fridge to all Organic food, taught my kids the game War, cute pictures of Cecily before school, went to the park-several times, made the most amazing White Chicken Chili dinner with “Bone” breadsticks, fed Charlotte her first solid, ran a total of 28 miles, got my camera back, and well, that’s about it I guess.

Recipe for dinner. I halfed the recipe and it was enough for our family. Give it a whirl.

White Chicken Chili
2 medium onions, chopped
1 Tbsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. oregano
2 Tbsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
2 small cans green chiles
4 cans Great Northern Beans
3 c. chicken broth
1 chicken bullion cube
4 c. cooked, shredded chicken breast
2 cans white corn, drained
1 Quart sour cream
4 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Saute onions in butter or oil until transparent. Add spices and all other ingredients, except cheese and sour cream. Cook over medium heat for 30-40 minutes. Add sour cream last 10 minutes of cooking. Pour into bowls and top with cheese.

Note: I will saute onions and then add everything in a crockpot for about an hour on high. I buy the Pillsbury breadsticks and butter them as soon as I get them out of the oven. So good!
