So Cecily was so excited when she got home from school today because she received a birthday party invitation to Woga Gymnastics. You see, here in Texas gymnastics is kindof a big deal and WOGA Gymnastics is where Nastia Lukin trains and doing birthday parties there is a popular thing. Cecily has always shown an interest in gymnastics so she was freaking out about it. I’m not exaggerating at all when I say she asked me every single day if we were going to the birthday party, she could not wait and carried around the invitation for 10 days leading up to it. It was the cutest thing ever, I don’t think I’ve seen her so excited over something like this before.
Anyway, Pierce was lucky enough to tag along too and he was in heaven!

Flowers
So lets just say I’m not the crafty type. Years ago I bought all the scrapbooking stuff, the paper, all the little tools/ gadgets, and every stamp and stick on trinket you could think of. It lasted all but a few months and I ended up giving it all away to my neighbor. I would love to learn how to sew and really make things but it’s just not in me, I’m really not a creative person like that. However, it was about a year ago our cousin was in town and she learned how to make flowers and showed me how to make them. Since then I’ve been making them here and there and really enjoy it. I have attached some that I have made and they turned out way cute. I ended up buying some cheap faded glory shoes for the girls and glued the flowers on them and now they look like they cost more than $6 Let me know what you think!

Catching up... with Pierce first
These past few weeks we’ve done some fun things and I’ve just decided to lump them all in one big post. So here you go...
Pierce is reading at a First grade level already, I am SO PROUD of him. I contribute he success to nightly reading and practicing his sight words like crazy. He can pretty much read anything now, its unreal watching them develop in such ways. He has a great love for reading and is so excited to complete his 6 hours of reading for the month to earn a free ticket to Six Flags. That will be something fun for him to look forward to. He keeps asking if Cecily is going to stay home while we go since she’s not doing the contest. I told him that she could earn her ticket from us if she reads too. :)
Gotta love these shots... This was because Cecily got a Squinkie and he didn't because he didn't get a green smiley face for good behavior that day.
Pierce has grown so much in the last 2 months! He has mastered the Monkey bars and is so excited about it, so I got some pictures in action, per his request!
Jake bought a basketball for Pierce and since he’s gotten it, he’s dribbling it all over the house. He is loving all the praise he is getting when we tell him how good he’s doing. The weird thing is, he writes with his left hand but does everything else with his left. When playing Soccer, he kicks with his left. Playing baseball he bats with his left, and dribbling the basketball is with his left as well. I hear that’s a pretty neat quality to have in sports. So, we are encouraging it all the way!

Cecily and the evil socks
Cecily lately has been obsessed with wearing socks with everything. She’s been going to bed at night with socks and during the day will wear socks with any shoe she decides to wear. So, her jelly shoes, flip flops, cute little flats, you name it she’s wearing socks with them. There have been a few rough mornings n getting ready for church or school where we’ve had to basically have an exorcism because she is literally freaking out about wearing the socks. Oh my heck she is dramatic. (But I kindof like it)
So, I’ve let her pretty much wear the socks whenever but had to put my foot down a few times. Here is one photo with her selection of pjs and her socks. (The next day was pj day at school and she insisted in wearing this) We did have another episode in the morning because I was not going to let her go to school looking like this. This ensemble screams Walmart all the way. Which is ok but not really… Lets at least get to Target ok? Her shirt is too little and shows her little belly, so cute though, I had to just laugh!

Little Char
Charlotte is ALWAYS smiling, and I mean always. I am soooo not exaggerating either, she is always this happy. I call her my little miracle baby for many reasons but she truly is the light in our house!
Right now she is pulling herself up onto everything and crawling very fast! One of her favorite things to do is turn the dial on the tv and upset the kids while they watch tv and she keeps on doing it until you block her with something. She is loving her "Baba's" and gets over the top excited when you say the word Baba. She also understands the words "all done" and does the "all done hand signs with her hands" when she doesn't want to eat anymore. Bannanas are a must for her everyone morning as well.
Here are a few cute pics of her just playing and smiling for the camera. Jake loves spiking her hair up, looks kindof cute and crazy.

Girls day out
Cecily is truly all girl and about 10% tom boy and that’s only because she hangs out with her brother most of the time. Not sure the percentages for Pierce are quite the same since he’s a little fruitier than most boys but he will grow out of it… I hope... :)
Anyway, Cecily LOVES going to Sharky’s. It’s a way cute little kids hair cut place by our house. They wash your hair with Chocolate Shampoo, they have a Barbie Jeep you sit in while they cut, dry, and style our hair, and then they give you a manicure afterwards. Did I mention the manicure is “free”? Yeah but the entire production costs $21, so you do the math. Not so free huh? I just think its funny how the emphasize the free part, anyway… it’s her favorite part! She is so darn cute, I can’t stand it and the pictures turned out darling!

Superbowl
Superbowl parties are always fun and we look forward to them every year. I personally am not a football fan but I really like the Superbowl. Maybe its all the food that comes with it that doesn't make it so bad, it also helps when you are around great friends. We LOVE hanging out with the Kotter's (love their darling family) and they know how to have a party. (Chelsea was so cute, she had all the food labeled, see pictures below)
Black Eyed Peas totally rocked the half time show too! It would have been awesome to have been there since it was here in Texas but its just as fun to be at home and not have to fight the crowds and such.
I do have to put here on my blog a new amazing dessert I found that’s easy and a favorite! Smores. Oh and I have an amazing Queso Dip too that I made...
We met some new people but of course I can't remember their names now, but they were really nice and fun to hang out with!

CASTLE PARK
Today was one of those days that felt like spring and I LOVED it. After we picked Pierce up from school I took them to the “Castle Park” and let them play for a few hours. This park really is something. Its got some fun stuff like a big Tire Swing, tunnels, and lots of different slides. Afterwards we went to this really good Ice Cream place and got them Ice Cream cones.

One of the best weeks EVER
Winter W0nderland Extravaganza... That’s exactly what I will call it. School was cancelled for 4 days in a row Tues-Fri for a pretty good snow storm. You see, here in Texas we are not equipped for weather like this (we are talking like up to 4 inches of snow, that's all), so 60 borrowed snow plows just isn't enough to cover Dallas and the surrounding areas, or so Texas for that matter. So, the snow will just pack down until its turned into a huge ice skating rink and we just have to wait until it melts. Darn.
Pretty interesting though because people here kindof freak out when stuff like this happens. MOST businesses, and I mean most businesses close down completely for days until its safe to drive. Most fast food and restaurants were closed and all the grocery stores were out of Milk, Bread, and Eggs at one point. Crazy... Makes you really re-think your food storage and stuff. Pretty much the entire state had rolling black outs, which is interesting. But what I do find even more interesting is that everyone had to particpate in the rolling black outs, including hospitals, except for the Cowboys Stadium! Can you believe that?! How does that happen?
So anyway...Although most mothers are pulling their hair out by day 3 of kids being home, I was absolutely loving it. Did I say loving it already? Loved it!! Ok so for 1), I didn't have to get up early to get the kids ready and out the door by a certain time, and 2), I was just in my pjs eating and playing with some pretty sweet people, all week long. So, we ended up having 4 days off in a row, then a 3 day weekend because Pierce didn’t have school on Monday. It was seriously the BEST week we’ve ever had!
So let me tell you about these fun people we know... (The Underlys) have 4 kids ages 16, 15, 10, 7 and my kids absolutely love them, and we love them! Talk about fun, laid back people that just go with it.
So here's the breakdown...It all began on Tuesday when we found out school had been cancelled. We invited the Underlys over to play games for a little bit but it soon turned into a 14 hr, yes 14 hr day filled of games and fun. We ordered pizza and played games like SCUM (which is a blast), Settlers of Catan, and Ticket to Ride. After such a fun day we spent and figured out that school was cancelled AGAIN, we decided to get together for a big breakfast the next morning. We made French Toast, Bacon, and Hash browns and played all day once again until 2:30am. Day 3 came along and we decided to go sledding. The kids were FREAKING out excited and seriously loved every single second of it. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. They were so cute too. Pierce would help Cecily and carry her sled up the hill when she was tired, he would help push her if she got stuck, it was seriously the funnest day for them and for me to see such cute moments like that. Jake brought his snowboard and thought he was super cool doing that. He also took Charlotte for a ride, she loved it.
Anyway, we spent the day sledding, eating, and playing games till 1am. Saturday we got together that night to play games, again. Tiring isn’t it? We were tired but it was seriously one of the funnest weeks I’ve had! We love this family!!!
Some of the staple items this week where… Slushy Dr. Peppers- Nothing better than a cold slushy one, these sausage Wonton thingys that Cheryl makes that are to die for, popcorn, and one of my favorite things, gummy bears, (Red ones). In order of color... Red, Orange, Green, Yellow, White.
An amazing week, sad to get back in the hang of things...
